Isle of Wight Branch

The Isle of Wight Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association aims to serve the needs of all those on the Island who are affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This includes people with MND, their carers, family and friends.

MND is an incurable condition that affects the muscles of the body over a period of time. It can make most things we do everyday and take for granted almost impossible. It can affect the ability to move, walk, talk and swallow; yet the mind and senses are rarely affected.

Since it’s launch in 1996 the Branch has been providing help and support to Islanders affected by MND. It has achieved this by raising both funds and awareness by holding several fundraising events each year. We also liaise with Health and Social care professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Doctors.

Our Branch is one of over eighty Local Branches that nationwide make up the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The Isle of Wight Branch is completely run by volunteers. We are always interested in hearing from people who can help with events or who want to get involved with running the Branch.

For further information about the Local Branch please Contact Us by phoning our local Help Line on 07922 12 34 16 or email us at: secretarymnd@yahoo.co.uk
