Volunteers

There are many different ways in which volunteers help and support people affected by MND on the Isle of Wight. Here are a few:

  • Association Visitor – working as part of a small local team to visit people with MND and their carers in their own home or keeping in touch by telephone.
  • Committee Member: e.g. Secretary, Treasurer, Chair, Newsletter Editor, and Fundraiser.
  • Project Manager
  • Casual Supporters e.g. helping on an ad hoc basis at fundraising collections or events.

If you would be interested in Volunteering to help the Isle of Wight Branch please contact us by email: secretarymnd@yahoo.co.uk or if you would like further information please look on the detailed pages on the National Office Website.

The role of the Volunteer Development Co-ordinator (South West)

I'm Lucy Etheridge and I am the Volunteer Development Co-ordinator for the South West region of the MND Association, acting as a resource for 19 groups and branches throughout the region, including the Isle of Wight. I provide support and guidance for branches to use in achieving their aims of raising awareness of MND; fundraising and providing support to people living with the disease. I am also responsible for recruiting volunteers and providing support to them as they settle into their roles. I am always happy to provide support, reassurance or advice to volunteers who request it, no matter how small or complex the issues they face.
